How to Drive Safely in Tropical Countries?
Here are some of the tips on how to enjoy their rain completely along with the safe car drive:
Checking the Car:
1. Get started with the basics and then check the general condition of your car and keep on checking the condition of your tyre, brakes, and wipers and replace them if you have any doubt.
2. After that make sure that your tyres have enough tread left as the quality of tyres, they should not be over or under inflated so it would be advisable to trust to your carmaker’s judgement.
3. Then check whether your headlight beams are focussed optimally especially the parking lights.
4. After that, come to the foot pedals because most of the times the run covers worn out or they are completely missing so, its mandatory to replace/change them.
5. Most of the cars have their drain hole plug missing which results into water seeping into the passenger compartment even if it is not raining severely.
On the Road
1. Well, it is seen that the first rains make road surfaces more slippery than waterlogged roads and, cement surfaces tend to be more slippery than tar roads which can cause skidding of the vehicle in such a situation, can be treacherous and dangerous.
2. Drive in lower gear than you would normally do so that you can ensure more control and adhesion with the surface.
3. And maintain the distance between you and the car in the front because braking distances are expanded in wet surfaces.
4. If there is fog or mist then, avoid the temptation to select the high beam in the rains as the increasing visibility leads to increase the glare especially the oncoming traffic.

LITRAK Hold Road Safety Programme for 200 Kids
The half-day session was organised by Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd (Litrak), the highway concessionaire for Lebuhraya Daman-sara–Puchong (LDP) and Sprint, the highway concessionaire for Sprint Highway, in collaboration with Perbadanan Putrajaya.
The objective of the programme was to educate the pupils on how to be a safer pedestrian as well as provide tips on conscious bike handling with respect to traffic rules and road safety.
The pupils were divided into eight groups and were taught the basics of road safety in a fun and entertaining manner through various traffic situations.
It required pupils to familiarise themselves with various agencies such as the Police, Ambulance, Fire Brigade, Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifMiros) and Road Safety Department before they were taught how to ride their bicycles and walk safely on the road at all times.
Litrak chief executive officer Sazally Saidi said the programme was part of the company’s continuous commitment to provide students with valuable skills on road safety that they could apply in their daily lives, especially those cycling along the highway.
“We want them to be safer pedestrians and apply all positive attitudes on the road.
“In the long run, this will help to ensure that pupils become more attentive and responsible road users and reduce the number of fatalities caused by accidents.
